Your eyebrows are going to look very different in 2017

Is it time to pick up the tweezers?

Kim Kardashian’s make-up artist has spoken: the Insta-brow is over.

Celebrity MUA Mario Dedivanovic, who has groomed the brows of the Kardashians, Kate Bosworth and Chrissy Teigen, to name a few, has over 2.8 million Instagram followers avidly tuning in every time he picks up his palette, so his words are likely to have impact.

He made the announcement at one of his sell-out Masterclasses, Cosmopolitan UK reports, calling for an end to the painted-on, heavily accentuated ‘Insta-Brow’ made famous by the Kardashians and emulated by beauty bloggers the world over. You know the one:

“Don’t draw boxy lines, it’s time for something new – your brows can still be strong, but you want them be soft, not harsh-looking,” Dedivanovic says.

“It’s all about layering on the products and the amount of pressure you use to apply them, which determines how light or dark your brows come out,” he guides. “I usually start by brushing the brows up or down, and then I lightly fill them in anywhere they need it with a brow pencil – mainly along the outer corners.”

But we’re not done yet – even lo-fi brows, according to Dedivanovic, take some work: “Next, I define the shape by taking a brow brush and shadow – I use one that’s one shade lighter than the pencil I used beforehand, which softens the look and adds dimension – to set everything. Then, I use a spoolie with hair spray, brow gel or a glue from Alcone to brush the brow into place.”

Of course, if you’re a fan of the Insta-brow, you keep doing you.
