Glitter eyes: too much for real life? It’s a theory I decided to test at 4pm one Thursday afternoon – a time when really, everyone can do with a little extra sparkle (and sugar. All the sugar).
The product? Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow – a longwearing liquid formula packed with micro-fine glitter particles.
As anyone who’s experimented with a glitter eye will well know, the problem with sparkle in powder shadow form is that it tends to dance its way down your cheekbones like an oh-so-shimmery rash.
Not so these Stila liquid formulas, which glide on wet and quickly dry, while retaining their intensely glittery finish. Maximum sparkle; minimal fall-out.
There are 10 disco ball shades to choose from, but I opted for Kitten Karma, a rose gold colour based on the brand’s cult-status Kitten pressed eyeshadow.
The small sponge applicator gives you enough control to follow your lashline for a lo-fi glitter liner look, but I couldn’t stop there. Before you could say ‘too far’, I’d painted my entire lids with the stuff. As you can see here:
Too much? Never.
While this probably isn’t my colour, the finish and staying power were impressive. One minor concern: it did make my eyelids feel like they were burning just a little bit. I know. Something to keep in mind before you buy all 10 shades at once…
The Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows launch in Mecca stores and at mecca.com.au on February 28.
