The Duchess of Cambridge steps out in saturated colour with two looks in one day

Devoted to black? This might change your mind

Stepping out in not one, but two loud looks yesterday, Kate Middleton made a strong case for all-out colour.

By day, she donned a cherry red Luisa Spagnoli skirt suit to attend the Place2Be Big Assembly for Children’s Mental Health Week.

Before slipping into a regal purple skirt suit, accessorised with opaque black tights and Prince William, for the Guild of Health Writers Conference that evening.

Both looks serve as a reminder that colour does have a place in your wardrobe, even (if not especially) in the middle of winter.

And if that red Luisa Spagnoli ensemble looks familiar, that’s because the Duchess has worn it three times before.

Its first outing was way back in 2011 – six years ago – when then-Kate Middleton and Prince William visited St Andrew’s University in the lead-up to their wedding.

The Duchess then brought it out a second time for the couple’s 2014 trip to New Zealand, and again when she was appointed patron of the Air Cadets in 2015.

The lesson here? If the Duchess of Cambridge can get away with wearing the same outfit twice, so can we – we may have social media double-ups to contend with, but she has the paparazzi.
