Pamela Anderson Opens Up About Why She Likes Ageing

Her perspective is very refreshing...

In her youth, Pamela Anderson was known for a career heavily based on her good looks – from playing Casey Parker as a regular on Baywatch, to modelling frequently for Playboy, to playing the glamorous Vallery Irons on V.I.P. However, now at the age of 48 years old, she has opened up in a recent interview with Wmagazine.com, saying that she’s not scared of ageing – that in fact, she really likes it.

One of the reasons she thinks it’s exciting is due to the amazing women she has to look up to in her life.

“I actually like ageing. I have great older female role models in my life, including my amazing mom, who have glitz, glamour, and all sorts of fun.”

It is particularly topical for her at the moment after recently playing the role of Jackie in a sci-fi short film called Connected. Her character is a spin-instructor in the future who is coming to terms with ageing in a technically advanced world, on the constant search to improve herself.

“Ageing is something we all deal with. At a certain age, you can find yourself at a loss. Your children are grown. You may have gone through a divorce. You’re trying to find meaning. What’s your purpose now? You’ve raised your kids, and now they think you’re a little crazy, because you’re trying to do all these self-help things.”

“You become distant from everybody. You’re searching for answers. If I do all these things to look younger – the creams, the classes, the supplements, the procedures – I’ll be more accepted by my kids, my friends, men. You’re dealing with so much loss at this age. It seems like everything is behind us, so what’s next? We took a lot of things for granted – youth, beauty. But now what?”

Though Anderson has gone through some difficult times recently herself, with a messy divorce last year leaving her feeling stressed and lacking confidence, she has since found herself in a much better place, finding happiness with who she is and feeling more comfortable with ageing. She said of her situation:

“Getting older isn’t the end. I know I have so much to look forward to.”
