Days After Being Arrested On Child Porn Charges, ‘A Current Affair’ Reporter Ben McCormack Has Been Hospitalised

The journalist is currently on bail.

Last week, news broke that Channel Nine senior journalist Ben McCormack had been arrested and charged with using a carriage service to send child pornography material.

The A Current Affair reporter, who has worked in the industry for over two decades, has now been hospitalised to undergo a mental health assessment.

McCormack has been on a strict conditional bail while awaiting his court date of May 1st, which includes no communication with any person younger than 16, a ban from all playgrounds, and reporting to the Redfern police station twice a week.

Since his arrest, the 42-year-old has been suspended from both Channel Nine and the surf lifesaving club he volunteered at. The Daily Mail revealed that screenshots from his Grindr (a gay dating app) profile have also come to light, in which he specifies his interest in “young slim smooth… dudes.”

A Current Affair addressed the charges on their Thursday night show, with stand-in host Leila McKinnon telling viewers they would report on the case “without fear or favour.”
