Givenchy Announces Riccardo Tisci’s Replacement

Woman of the house

This morning we woke to the news that Clare Waight Keller had been appointed as Artistic Director of Givenchy.

Waight Keller, most recently of Chloe, is the first ever female to be appointed to the couture house but interestingly, the second to be appointed within the LVMH group in less than a year. Prior to Waight Keller, Maria Grazia Chiuri (formerly of Valentino) took up the Artistic Director post at Dior – another female first.

Waight Keller brings with her many years of success at Chloe built around a unique brand of wearable, feminine apparel and cult status accessories – the later being the bread and butter of any modern fashion house. Prior to her Parisian tenure at Chloe, she worked at Calvin Klein and also alongside Christopher Bailey and Francisco Costa during Tom Fords reign at Gucci.

Clare Waight Keller is set to present her first collection for the house of Givenchy in October during Paris Spring/Summer 18 Fashion Week. We wait patiently to see what effect this has on the recently street-wear skewed brand and the fashion landscape at large. In the meantime, we’ll borrow a phrase from her peer Grazia Chiuri’s first collection, We Should All Be Feminists, because we feel the world is beginning to listen.
