The Star Wars starlet has been quietly struggling with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome for years

Daisy Ridley, 24, has just used Instagram to share an important message about health with her fans.

The Star Wars starlet – she plays kickass Rey in the new series – posted a photo of herself in a tee shirt and sporting a face mask, revealing that she has been struggling with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome for several years.

Both diseases cause intense pain to sufferers, particularly endometriosis, a disorder that sees the uterus’ lining grow outside the organ, causing discomfort during periods.

In the post, Ridley revealed that she has endured almost 10 years of crippling pain, skin problems and specialist scans and tests. It’s only been recently, she shared, that she has gotten on top of her health and made serious progress with her diagnosis.

She ended the candid post by urging all of her fans to look after their bodies and stay on top of their health.

“To any of you who are suffering with anything, go to a doctor; pay for a specialist; get your hormones tested; get allergy testing’ keep on top of how your body is feeling and don’t worry about sounding like a hypochondriac. From your head to the tips of your toes we only have one body, let us all make sure ours are working in tip top condition, and take help if it’s needed.”
