The Hobart Woman Who Was Set On Fire Is Slowly Making Progress

The 20-year-old was set alight by her fiancé a week ago.

Last Monday, 20-year-old Nicole Evans endured something no human should ever have to. During an argument, Nicole’s fiancé doused her with petrol and set her on fire in their backyard shed.

She was flown from Hobart to Melbourne in a critical condition early on Tuesday morning with burns to more than 50 percent of her body.

Nicole remains an induced coma in The Alfred hospital but is reportedly making slow progress for the better.

“I am pleased to be able to report – having just been speaking with Nicole ‘s mother – that she is responding to sound and moving her limbs,” Leslie Chambers said on a GoFundMe page set up for Nicole on Sunday.

“Her eyes are also moving under her eyelids. Her immediate family are relieved to witness this progress.”

A hospital spokeswoman said on Sunday night that Nicole was still in a critical but stable condition, The Daily Mail reports.

Matthew John Davey, 34, remains in custordy charged with causing grievous bodily harm and other matters. He is due to appear in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on June 13.
