Huma Abedin And Anthony Weiner Will Separate After His THIRD Sexting Scandal

The latest transgression involves the pair’s four-year-old son

Hillary Clinton’s right hand woman and longest serving employee Huma Abedin has announced she is separating from her husband Anthony Weiner after news of his most recent sexting transgression.

It’s the third scandal to Weiner’s name since the pair were married in 2010. The first involved a lewd photograph accidentally posted to his Twitter account in 2011, while Abedin was pregnant with the couple’s son Jordan. At the time, Weiner was a Democratic congressman in New York.

But the scandal cost him his career, forcing him to resign in the weeks after the image was posted. He checked in to therapy and announced he would become a stay-at-home dad to Jordan, while Abedin’s career with Clinton – which began when she was an intern to the First Lady in the ‘90s – kicked into overdrive.

Weiner later tried to resurrect his political ambitions, running for mayor of New York City two years later in 2013. While campaigning, Abedin appeared by his side, even when news that Weiner was still sexting (behind the questionable pseudonym Carlos Danger) unspooled in the middle of the Weiner’s push for election.

“Our marriage, like many others, has had its ups and its downs. It took a lot of work and a whole lot of therapy to get to a place where I could forgive Anthony,” Abedin said at the press conference after the sexting scandal broke in July, 2013.

But for Abedin, Weiner’s latest transgression appears to be unforgivable.

On Sunday, the most senior aide on the Clinton campaigned announced that she was separating from her husband after the New York Post reported that he had been sexting an anonymous brunette woman since late in January 2015. The story was littered with more than a dozen explicit images and screenshots of Twitter conversations between Weiner and this woman. One featured his four-year-old son curled up in bed next to him.

Only this month, Abedin had given an interview to an American magazine praising her husband’s parenting. “It wasn’t so clear in my my mind, after my son was born, that I would work with this kind of intensity [as the Clinton campaign requires],” she said. “Many working moms feel this way – there is a lot of guilt… I don’t think I could do it if I didn’t have the support system I have, if Anthony wasn’t willing to be, essentially, a full-time dad.”

“Jordan was the best thing that happened to either of us,” she added. “Our primary concern was the well-being of our son, and ensuring he had everything he needed to feel loved and cared for and to thrive.”

Abedin, 40, and their son are currently in the Hamptons with Clinton as part of a fundraising push for the campaign. Since the scandal broke on the weekend, Abedin has stayed out of the public eye, with Clinton appearing at three events without her right hand woman. The Clinton camp is yet to comment on what they term a “private matter”.

Clinton’s presidential opponent Donald Trump, on the other hand, has already made his views on the separation crystal clear.

“Huma is making a very wise decision. I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him,” a statement from Trump read, The Los Angeles Times reports. The statement came just over an hour after the separation was announced.

“I only worry for the country in that Hillary Clinton was careless and negligent in allowing Weiner to have such close proximity to highly classified information. Who knows what he learned and who he told?”
