Woman Chained Up “like a dog” By Boyfriend Speaks Out For The First Time

‘If I fought back, he’d kill me’

A woman who was found padlocked inside a metal container and “chained like a dog” has opened up about her horror ordeal for the first time, saying her captor raped her “twice a day, every day” and threatened to kill her if she tried to escape.

Kala Brown, 30, had been there for two months when she was rescued in November and her former boss, Todd Kohlhepp, arrested.

“Todd put me on the ground and handcuffed me and cuffed my ankles, and put a ball gag in my mouth,” Ms Brown tells Dr Phil McGraw in a preview for the show which airs this week.

“[He put me] into a storage container. He left me bound and he also put a chain around my neck.”

Ms Brown also opened up about Kohlhepp killed her boyfriend, David “Charlie” Carver in front of her, and would take her to his grave to threaten her.

“He shot Charlie in the chest three times; he said it was easier to control someone if you took someone they loved,” she recalled through tears. “He let me know that if I fought back he would kill me. And then he raped me.”

Ms Brown believes Kohlhepp didn’t want her dead, and that he hoped she would fall in love with him.

“He didn’t want to kill me, he wanted to keep me; that’s why I did what I had to do to survive,” she continued. “No matter what he did to me, he did not break me. He cannot destroy me and I won.”

Following his arrest Kohlhepp allegedly confessed to killing as many as seven people since 2003. He remains in custody charged with kidnapping and murder in the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
