A teenager who was the victim of domestic abuse from her boyfriend has shared photos of her bruises on Facebook to remove any doubt that he committed this crime.

18-year-old Kelsie Skillen was locked in her flat and beaten by her 19-year-old boyfriend James McCourt for four hours. Mirror reports that McCourt hid her keys and her phone, and told her: “You’re going to have a bruised face tomorrow so I better do it right.”

Skillen managed to escape the incident when McCourt left the room and she called her mum, who called the police to the apartment in Glasgow.

McCourt pleaded guilty in court to two counts of assault and was recently sentenced to jail for 21 months.

On the day of the court case, Kelsie Skillen took to Facebook to share images of her bruises, explaining that there were people that still doubted he committed the crime.

“Some people are still tryin to defend him and others are believing he is being sentenced for something else as that’s what he’s obviously going to tell people,” she wrote.

“I would never be able to forgive myself if I didn’t tell people about this and another poor girl ended up in my situation.”
