She became of the British ‘It’ girl of the 1990s and 2000s and had a high-profile battle with cocaine addiction which she spoke openly about on a number of occasions.

“Yes. I’d love to lie and say I have no regrets, but I do. I’d like to go back to that young girl and shake her. So much was handed to me on a plate,” she told the Daily Mail .

“I never set out to become an It girl, but you get opportunity after opportunity, then a car, a TV programme. It was so exciting, albeit a bit frightening. You have people telling you that you are brilliant — that you wouldn’t be getting all these opportunities if you weren’t brilliant.

“The trouble is, you don’t feel brilliant. You just feel out of your depth. In fact, if you did feel brilliant, you might not do the toxic things I started to do.”
