The Best Fan Theories For How The Gilmore Girls Revival Will End

Will you be watching on 25 November?

The Gilmore Girls revival is so close now that we can practically taste it. And the question on everyone’s lips is… what are those famous final four words of the show?

As the story goes, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has always known what the final four words of the show, but she never got the opportunity to reveal them, as she left before the finale in 2007.

But now that she’s back, fans are DYING to know what she’s had in mind for the ending all along. Even Scott Patterson, who plays Luke on the show, has come out and said he felt ‘quite perturbed’ by the final four words on the show.

Lauren Graham has given a couple of hints as well, telling Entertainment Weekly that two characters said the line, not one, and that it was quite unexpected.

“It’s not as resolved as I thought they would be. I thought they would be, ‘Honey I’m home!’ or something like, ‘Goodbye, small town!’ So I was like, ‘Oh? Really?’”

Alexis Bledel also told EW that it is very typical of Sherman-Palladino’s writing style.

“It is very much what Amy wanted,” Bledel said. “If anyone knows her storytelling they’ll maybe know what to expect. I honestly don’t know what to say about it without using specifics. It does kind of, hmm, it does kind of throw you.”

Here are a couple of our favourite theories for what those four words are:

1. “I’m pregnant.” “Me too”

Amy Sherman-Palladino has always said that the show was about the mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory, and what better way to start that cycle again than both of them being pregnant??

2. “I do.” “Me too”

We know that Luke and Lorelai are together in the Gilmore Girls revival, but the question is…now what? While some people are speculating a baby, some people are speculating a wedding, and hence the theory that the final words will be:

“I do.” – Lorelai

“Me too.” – Luke

3. “More coffee?” “Yes please.”

Lorelai and Rory are well known for their coffee addiction and this could be a final salute and declaration of their mother-daughter bond.

4. “I’m sorry.” “Me too”

While Amy Sherman-Palladino has focused a lot on the relationship between Lorelai and Rory, there has been a lot of tension between Lorelai and her own mum. Imagine if the end of the show was a final reconciliation and acceptance between the two!
