This Man Has Been Banned From Tinder For Racism And Sexism

He has been named and shamed in a fiery Facebook post.

Tinder has taken action after a man has been exposed for his racism and sexism on the online dating app.

University of California, Santa Barbara graduate Nick Vedovi initially made headlines when one of his friends, Kevin Tran, posted on Facebook about some of the abusive messages he had written to women, posting Nick’s profile as a PSA.

“I met this guy in college and he seemed like a decent guy, he was nice, friendly, etc. over the weekend, he matched a friend of mine on tinder and they exchanged messages,” Kevin wrote. “When she didn’t respond immediately, he lost it and left a bunch of nasty messages. i called him out on it, he denied, and he proceeded to block me on all social media.

“Sexism and racism takes many forms and it cannot be tolerated.

“As a man and POC, we can’t let this stand.”

The post resulted in more women coming forward about their experiences of harassment involving Nick in the past, and eventually Tinder responded by banning him from the service.

They wrote a lengthy open letter on their blog addressed to Nick and others that behaved like him using the service.

“We’re swiping you off the island,” Rosette Pambakian, the Vice President of Communications & Brand at Tinder wrote.

“Tinder has a zero-tolerance policy on disrespect. No racist rants. No sexist pigs. No trolling. No jerks who can’t get over their own inadequacies long enough to have a decent conversation with another person on Tinder.”

I was personally offended by what you said. Your words to that woman were an assault, not only on her, but on all of us. Every day, we work to rid our ecosystem of bad actors like you. Why anyone would choose to go out into the world and spread hate I will never understand, but you do not have that choice on Tinder. Hate is not an option and we will continue to fight it wherever it rears its ugly head.”

They have certainly sent a strong message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.
