A toddler has been found dead at a home in Sydney’s southwest, and it’s believed she died in the bath and may have been there for days.

Emergency services were called to the home in Miller around midday, by a concerned friend who was worried for the child’s welfare. But the girl was declared dead at the scene, according to news.com.au.

The coroner will prepare a report on the death. However, the daughter of a neighbour told The Daily Telegraph that the woman who lived in the house had suffered a car accident at the weekend.

“A family friend (of the woman’s) came over and told my parents she had a car accident up in the mountains,” Ms Fransisco said. “She didn’t seem like the kind of mother who’d leave her daughter alone.”

Another neighbour, Pat Ingram, told The Daily Telegraph that a woman came to her house inquiring about the child. “Someone knocked on our door, asked if we had seen the little girl. She said she was concerned for the child’s welfare. She said she was the next of kin.

“She asked if I had a ladder. I told her if she was really concerned, she should ring the police.”
