Sex and the City Movie (2008)

Our favourite fictional relationship columnist, Carrie Bradshaw’s, planned ceremony is definitely #weddinggoals…. if you’re prepared to spend the BIG bucks.

Beginning with a rehearsal dinner at the famous Buddakan restaurant, the ceremony itself was set in the iconic New York Public Library, in honour of the books that “housed all of the love letters of great men”. These two wedding venues are estimated to set you back a whopping US $58,350. Yikes!

Carrie, of course, wore that envious Vivienne Westwood dress free of charge thanks to the lady herself, but too bad Mr Big slipped up on the day and we weren’t able to watch her go down the aisle in it *sigh*.

The CW

Gossip Girl (2007 – 2012)

When the final episode of Gossip Girl came out, all GG fans dreams came true.

Blair and Chuck romantically eloped in Central Park with the bride wearing a stunning, embellished Elie Saab dress.

‘Lonely boy’, Dan, finally got his happy ending with the once unattainable Serena in an intimate ceremony at Blair’s house, and in true Serena style, she went for an unconventional gold gown, looking positively stunning.

I think a lot of us shed a tear or two at this finale.

Universal Pictures

Mamma Mia! (2008)

The dream travel destination wedding of all travel weddings would have to be in Mamma Mia!  I mean, who wouldn’t want to marry the love of their life at the epicentre of love, the “island of Aphrodite” in Greece?

From the charming little chapel, which overlooked the ocean to the fairy lit dinner ceremony – this wedding was picture perfect.

The only negative we have is for the poor donkey that had to carry Sophie all the way up to the church.

Universal Pictures

Bridesmaids (2011)

Okay, so this wedding may have been a LITTLE over the top…. but it was visually spectacular.

The exchanging of rings took place on a water feature, fireworks went off after the couple said, “I do” and the world’s most annoying/best friend Helen organised Lillian’s favourite band, Wilson Phillips, to play. Not to mention, she gave out free puppies at the bridal shower…

NBC

Friends (1994 – 2004)

Although Friends always built us up for Ross and Rachel’s inevitable relationship, Monica and Chandler’s surprise romance gave us another couple to adore.

The special two-part finale in season 7 gave us all the #feels when they married in their sweet and simple ceremony.

Plus, we were all left a bit of a cliffhanger when Rachel revealed that she was pregnant.

Father of the Bride (1991)

Little did George Banks know that when his daughter Annie said she wanted her wedding reception at the family home that it would be such an extravagant affair.

Initially envisioning a casual barbeque type reception, George finally accepts his daughter’s dream wedding with the help of an eccentric European wedding planner, Fran.

Complete with marquees adorned with chandeliers, candlelit tables and even real swans – this movie redefined the “little backyard wedding”.

20th Century Fox

Bride Wars (2009)

Despite things getting a bit catty when Liv and Emma played bridezilla, their childhood dream wedding at the Plaza Hotel in New York was simply enchanting.

The legendary hotel provided a gorgeous backdrop for the brides. Liv wearing her mother’s classic wedding dress and Emma in that Vera Wang gown.

TriStar Pictures

My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

Although we were all rooting for Juliana to score the guy in the end, she still had her own happy ending, being treated to the unexpected arrival of her good friend, George at the lavish wedding reception. Not often in Hollywood films you see a more realistic ending.

Plus who could forget that iconic, “I Say a little Prayer” restaurant scene in the film?

Summit Entertainment

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011)

When this dysfunctional vampire/human couple finally married in their woodland setting, everything all seemed to come together.

The combination of the magical location, the ethereal Carolina Herrera dress and the couple’s long-time martial anticipation makes this one very memorable wedding scene.

Universal Pictures

Love Actually (2003)

Peter and Juliet sure didn’t expect their little church service to become such an unforgettable event when Peter’s best friend arranged a surprise act to play “All You Need is Love”, as they walked down the aisle.

This particular feel-good scene has since inspired many real life romantics to defy traditional wedding standards, by playing an upbeat song during the ceremony. Who remember that famous YouTube video of the wedding party dancing down the aisle to Chris Brown’s “Forever”?
