7 Fashion Trends Pinterest Says We’ll Be Wearing In 2019

When planning for the year ahead, what do you consider? Are you thinking about your job, your home life, maybe your relationships? How about your wardrobe? When curating the perfect closet, there’s much more to consider than just what you want and when you want it. In fact, getting a head start on what you’ll be seeing everywhere can mean the difference between French-girl levels of curation and total fashion failure.

But never fear, we’re here to help. Taking data from Pinterest, we’ve compiled the seven trends that everyone will be wanting in the seasons ahead. From the shoes you can’t live without to the unexpected accessory every fashion girl worth their Miu Miu will be carrying, we’ve analysed the trends that have skyrocketed in popularity — so you can properly plan for the future.

Linen jumpsuits (up 53 per cent)

There’s no better way to stay cool this year than with a linen jumpsuit. Breezy, easy and oh-so-chic, take yours in a natural hue and pair it with slides for an outfit you’ll want to live in.

Posse

Posse Phoenix Jumpsuit, $289, Posse.com

Orange everything! (up 190 per cent)

It was everywhere on the streets in 2018, so that means it’ll be in all our wardrobes this year. For an on-trend take on the colour, go for earthy terracotta tones and pair with beiges and browns for a back-to-nature effect.

Ulla Johnson

Ulla Johnson Maya Ruched Satin Midi Dress, $946, Net-A-Porter

Square toes (up 110 per cent)

The era of uncomfortable pointy shoes might be over, if the influx of square toed shoes is anything to go by. With designers making everything from cowboy-inspired boots to classic sandals with horizontal fronts, there’s no reason not to square up in 2019.

ATP

ATP Atelier Ceci Sandal, $429, The Undone

Say it with a sneaker (up 2211 per cent)

Sneakers are nothing new, but it seems 2019 will be another year of sneaker mania. In 2019, fashion girls are going beyond the classic whites and opting for statement-making shapes and colours. We might have Virgil Abloh and Nicolas Ghesquière to blame for the oversized aesthetic, but we’re picking it won’t be going anywhere soon so stock up!

Adidas

Adidas Originals Falcon Sneakers, $150, Stylerunner

The wider the better (up 98 per cent)

Call it the Jacquemus effect, but wide brimmed hats have seen significant increases in searches on the platform over the last year. Good for the skin and even better for an outfit, a floppy straw hat can make every summer dress that much better. Plus, when you’re sick of the conversation you can do a Samantha Jones and slowly disappear.

Oversized hat

Brixton Burma Hat, $59, David Jones

All ruched up (up 108 per cent)

Ruched mini dresses might be an Instagram sensation, but expect all-ruched-everything moving into 2019. From tops to pants and skirts with taught detailing, ruching will be moving into full domination. For a laid-back approach to the trend, opt for looser pulls which fall with your body, not against it.

Ruching

Norma Kamali Diana Asymmetric Crop Top, $181, Matches Fashion

She sells seashells (up 679 per cent)

For those paying close attention to recent street style stars, it will come as no surprise that shells are having their shining moment in 2019. Worn around the ankles, necks and arms of well-bronzed Scandi girls last year, the world has embraced the kitsch holiday souvenir with panache. Make yours work on the weekdays by pairing with sleek separates and silky slides — the contradiction will be jarringly fabulous.

Shells

Isabel Marant Gone Tone Shell Bracelet, $131, Net-A-Porter
