Two women have been charged after another woman was allegedly found with stab wounds in the boot of the car they were driving, along the Hume Highway on February 3.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Latia Henderson, 18, and Kayley Lee Ketley, 24, will appear in court via video link on February 4, after a truck driver reported suspicion of the kidnapping to police after he spotted the woman waving her hand through a hole created through a missing tail-light.
The woman was allegedly found by police suffering multiple stab wounds to her knee, thigh, and forearm but had non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Liverpool Hospital and police have since said sheโs been โholding up remarkably wellโ.
NSW Police are currently working to discover why the pair accused of the kidnapping were in the Southern Highlands region after it was confirmed they are both from the Campbelltown area in Sydney.
Detective Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie from the Hume Police District told Sunrise he believed the alleged crime was motivated by โpersonal violence.โ
โIt appears to be just personal violence-related,โ he said. โWe are still following up inquiriesโฆ but that is what the early indications are that I have been told.โ
He added police had been told that all three women first met up at a place in Claymore, in south-west Sydney, on the evening of February 2.
โSometime yesterday morning she was stabbed and placed in the boot,โ he said. โWeโll be alleging she was in the car for several hours before she was sightedโฆ Weโve got a few more investigative steps to take.โ
Both women have been charged with wounding a person with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm, kidnapping offences, as well as taking and driving a car without the consent of its owner.
Ms Henderson was further charged with driving a vehicle without a license, while Ms Ketley was charged with driving a vehicle while disqualified and drug possession.
They remain in custody at Goulburn Police Station.
