A ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Revival Could Be Going Ahead

With one condition

Buffy The Vampire Slayer could be joining the ranks of resurrected TV shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Charmed with a reboot of its own.

Gary Newman, the head of the Fox Television Group, says that the return of the cult series Buff is “frequently” discussed at the network.

“It’s something we talk about frequently, and Joss Whedon is really one of the greatest creators we ever worked with,” he said at the INTV Conference, Variety reports.

“I think if you look in our library, Buffy is probably the most ripe show we have for bringing back.”

However, the return of the 1997-2003 series hinges on the involvement of creator Joss Whedon.

“When Joss decides it’s time, we’ll do it. And until Joss decides it’s time, it won’t happen,” Newman explained.

Whedon told EW in 2017 he had been “trying deliberately to move forward and do something a little bit different”.

“But yeah, the great thing is everybody looks great, and the other great thing is the show is about growing up,” he added.

Kickass star Michelle Gellar believes Buffy should not receive the revival treatment.

“We have to remember it was about the horrors of adolescence and how those manifest into the monsters that were the actual monsters in our show, and I don’t know necessarily what that translates to into today,” she told The Huffington Post in April last year.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to make do with our Buffy box set. Did someone say marathon?
