When Will Afterpay Australian Fashion Week Be On?
The 2021 event isn't just any ordinary Fashion Week, with the celebration marking the event's 25th-anniversary (which was originally meant to be celebrated in 2020, before it was cancelled due to the pandemic). The event will begin on May 31st and end on June 4th.
On the recently announced agenda are 36 live runway shows and five digital presentations, with additional brands taking part in IMG's on-site physical showroom facility, The Suites, which will see labels like Indigenous Fashion Projects, Silk Laundry, We Are Kindred, Arnsdorf and Chosen by Tuchuzy taking part.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with IMG to create a world-class event that supports Australian designers on both a local and international stage," said Afterpay co-founder Nick Molnar. "With Australian fashion designers being the founding partners and the core of Afterpay, this year will see us champion and foster both emerging and established designers through various consumer shows like never before. We can’t wait to celebrate our commitment to the future of fashion with such a strong and incredible lineup of shows and special events.”
What Is Afterpay Australian Fashion Week's 2021 Schedule?
This year's event is unlike any other, putting a renewed focus on sustainability, as well as a new hub that will highlight First Nations designers.
The schedule includes plenty of familiar faces confirmed to showcase their Resort '22 collection, including Albus Lumen, bassike, Rebecca Vallance, Bondi Born, Christopher Esber, Commas, Ginger & Smart, Macgraw, Manning Cartell, KitX, Oroton, Romance Was Born, Zimmermann, as well as emerging designers Auteur, Jordan Gogos, and Jordan Dalah, who will open the first day.
In addition, 12 Indigenous designers will showcase in three separate Indigenous fashion events: Welcome to Country, the First Nations Fashion and Design Runway and the First Nations Fashion and Design Talk.
Where Can You Buy Tickets To Afterpay Australian Fashion Week?
Tickets to the 2021 event are already up for grabs, starting from $59 for the various talks and $129 for access to shows. Better yet, if you're looking for a fun experience in events, PR, fashion, media and production, AAFW is looking for volunteers to register their interest here.
You also don't have to worry if you can't make one of your favourite designer's, because this year all shows will be either live-streamed or later uploaded to IMG's OTT platform ausfw.com, allowing for the fashion-obsessed to tune in from around the globe.
This year's event will also include eight designers stage 'see now, buy now' runways as part of IMG's Afterpay Australian Fashion Week: The Experience, so you can snap up a design straight after the show.
