Meet The Eligible Men That Were In The Running To Become Australia’s 2020 ‘Bachelor’

Oh, what could've been

The Bachelor 2020 has only just begun, and yet, we’ve already seen a lot of drama. From jilted ex-lovers, to cheating rumours, and one of the most memorable first episodes we’ve ever witnessed, the show has been off to a riotous start.

And while many of us loved bachelor Locky Gilbert during his time on Survivor, he’s grown to become one of the more divisive suitors, with ratings dropping to an all-time low.

It’s now been revealed that two of the country’s most eligible bachelors, AFL player Alex Rance and model Jett Kenny were also being considered by Channel 10 producers before they settled on Gilbert.

According to So Dramatic podcast host, Megan Pustetto, both suitors had to drop out of contention.

[Jett] was originally cast before he appeared on Dancing With The Stars. It was a two part deal, but he ended up getting a girlfriend on the show so he had to pull out,’ she claimed.

Kenny, 26, was dating his Dancing With The Stars partner Lily Cornish, however, the couple broke up last year.

Rance, 30, reportedly even went as far as signing “on the dotted line” before pulling out of the show, which led to some disappointed contestants.

“The girls for this season were actually cast for [Alex]. They had been told Alex was going to be their Bachelor so when the girls arrived at the mansion and it was Locky, there was a lot of confusion,” Pustetto revealed.

It was only reported that Rance had split from his wife Georgia at the end of 2019. The couple had been married since 2012.

The choice to then slot Locky Gilbert in was both “perfect”, since he had reality television experience, but “desperate”.

“[Channel 10] extended his contract despite his alleged bad behaviour on set, it was desperate times for them,’ she claimed.
