Andre Leon Talley, Iconic Fashion Journalist, Has Died Age 73

Our thoughts are with the fashion maven's family and friends.

In shocking news, the legendary fashion journalist André Leon Talley has reportedly passed away, aged 73.

While his exact cause of death remains unknown, the industry heavyweight passed away at a hospital in New York, reports TMZ.

It appeared to be confirmed by fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg and journalist Derek Blasberg, who have both shared touching tributes for the late icon.

Von Furstenberg captioned her post “Good bye darling André… no one saw the world in a more glamorous way than you did… no one was grander and more soulful than you were…the world will be less joyful. I have loved you and laughed with you for 45 years….I miss your loud screams…I love you soooo much.”

Controversially, Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour did not immediately release a statement following the announcement—could this have anything to do with their ongoing feud?

After being called out on social media, Wintour issued a statement, paying tribute to Talley’s life and legacy.

Admires and colleagues of Talley’s including Gigi Hadid, Zendaya, Rick Owens and Miss J Alexander.

Talley leaves an inspiring legacy, including being one of the most powerful and formidabel figures in the fashion industry.

Having made his start as Fashion News Director at American Vogue in 1983, Talley largely contributed to the success of the publication during his role as Creative Director, which he served until 1995.

Talley returned to the magazine 1998, and remained the Editor-At-Large until his departure in 2013.

Throughout his tenure, Talley encouraged international designers and magazines to feature more people of colour in their respective works.

Talley also served as a judge on the cult reality television series America’s Next Top Model and made a now-iconic cameo in the 2008 Sex And The City film.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family during this time.
