Anna Faris Speaks Out About Sexual Harassment On Set

"He wouldn’t have done that to the lead male"

Anna Faris has joined the chorus of women who have spoken out about sexual harassment in Hollywood in the wake of producer Harvey Weinstein’s fall from grace.

The Mom star shared an experience with an unnamed director in the early days of her career, The Independent reports.

“I was doing a scene where I was on a ladder and I was supposed to be taking books off a shelf and he slapped my ass in front of the crew so hard,” Faris recounted on her podcast Unqualified.

“And all I could do was giggle. I remember looking around and I remember seeing the crew members being like, ‘Wait, what are you going to do about that? That seemed weird.’ And that’s how I dismissed it. I was like, ‘Well, this isn’t a thing. Like, it’s not that big of a deal. Buck up, Faris. Like, just giggle.’”

Faris said the harassment had a lasting impact on her.

“But it made me feel small. He wouldn’t have done that to the lead male,” she explained.

The star also pointed out that it was likely other figures in Hollywood had displayed such abhorrent behaviour.

“There must be a tonne of men in Hollywood, and all over the world, that are pretty scared right now because of their guilty behavior,” she said. “As much as I bemoan the iPhone and social media, it has given a liberation, for sure, and accountability.”

In addition to multiple allegations about Weinstein, more than 200 women have accused director James Toback of sexual harassment.
