'Another Period' Is A Hilarious Cross Between 'Downton Abbey' And The Kardashians

The hit show is back for season 3 - by Winsome Walker

'Another Period' Is A Hilarious Cross Between 'Downton Abbey' And The Kardashians

Meet Lillian and Beatrice Bellacourt. The obscenely rich sisters living in 1900s Newport, Rhode Island, have servants attend to their every whim, down bottles of cocaine-wine and desperately want to be famous.

Played and created by Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, the socialite sisters are the stars of the hit Comedy Central series Another Period, which is back for a third season.

The show has all the upstairs-downstairs drama of Downton Abbey—the cast includes Christina Hendricks as a servant named ‘Chair’—plus the reality TV style confessionals of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Three seasons in, Lillian and Beatrice are still starving for fame and are prepared to do almost anything for it, from holding a scandalous bathing costume carriage wash (forget bikini car wash) to crying and screaming for no conceivable reason.

According to Comedy Central, this season sees the Bellacourts "fight for suffrage in congress, become some of America’s first female Olympic athletes, deal with an opioid addiction and campaign to make America great again, for the first time".

The show is daring, hilarious, and offers a whip-smart take on contemporary politics.
