Iconic Aussie label Willow has announced it will close its doors less than three years after founder Kit Willow Podgornik was famously ousted from the company.

The Apparel Group, who also has Sportscraft, SABA and JAG under its umbrella, announced the new via the label’s website, with the online store ceasing trading from August 29 while their four boutiques will close at the end of this month.

The label, which was once worth a reported $20 million, struggled to find its way after losing founder and designer Podgornik in 2013.

In April this year The Apparel Group announced that the label was for sale following a “strategic review” of its brands.

In August 2015, Podgornik launched a new ethical fashion label called KITX.

“I knew I was never ready to stop creating. I knew that I wanted something good to come out of the process,” Podgornik told marie claire in April.

“One thing I did in that year off was that I reflected on [WILLOW],” she added. “I was always looking ahead. Being forced to step back I saw the enormity of what I had done, building a brand. I felt proud of myself. It was the first positive thing that came out of [leaving WILLOW].”
