Selena Gomez has a style coveted by millions of girls worldwide. Her vintage-chic look always makes her look effortless, though we all know some serious planning went on behind the scenes to achieve those looks.
The stylist behind the celeb, Christian Classen, has recently shared some of his styling tips on Selena to E! News, from how he created her street style looks to the outrageous outfits she wore on her Revival Tour.
“My job is to curate a visual brand that is very specific to each individual client through color, silhouette, mood and vibe,” he said.
“The world then starts to identify and say, ‘Hey, I want to look like this celebrity or that celebrity.’ For example, no matter the overall style direction, the pieces I choose for Selena are always clean and classic but have a twist to them.”
“It’s like a simple blue jean, but it’s deconstructed. Or a classic cat-eye frame, but the lens is red instead of black.”
Classen continues on to say that a pair of expensive shoes will help you go further than an expensive dress.
“You can wear a $10 dress with beautiful shoes and you look elevated. Cheap shoes with an expensive dress? Automatically looks like a cheap dress.”
He recommends not following trends and instead, investing in classic, staple pieces tailored to your body. “Your closet will never age.”
Music inspires him, and so do cult figures like Vanessa Traina, Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Hutton and Wednesday Adams.
To Classen, there’s only one thing that makes a key outfit, and it’s something that all of us can afford.
“A smile. If you go through all the best red carpet photos, they are always smiling, confident and relaxed. Nothing is worse than a girl who looks miserable.”
So while Selena’s style oozes cool, make sure you create your own brand and only wear clothes that make you feel as fabulous as you look.
