When Lydia Forte and Dimitri Chandris became engaged, there was never any question of where the wedding would be held.

When your family owns a 12th Century castle in Tuscany – it’s kind of a no brainer.

“They bought it as ruins and painstakingly restored it to its former 12th-century glory over several years. We spent all of our summers there as children—it’s such a special place for me, with wonderful memories,” the bride told US Vogue.

But that’s not where the family connections ended, the bride’s mother also made all of the clothes for the day from the bride’s gown, the bridesmaid’s dresses and the flower girls and pageboys ensembles.

The bride also wore her great-great grandmother’s lace veil, and for the reception the bride changed into a low cut gown with pale blue flowers – a nod to her groom’s Greek heritage – and more suitable for dancing the night away.

The overall result? A medieval Tuscan fairy tale brought to life.
