In Bride to Be‘s tenth biannual Cost of Love survey, which involved over 1000 engaged and recently married Australian women, it was revealed that brides are dishing out an average of $2,914 on their dream gown – a decrease of 6 per cent in the last two years.

While this is still a significant amount of money, the results showed that couples are instead allocating the majority of their budget on their reception and honeymoon.

According to the figures, the average couple is spending $41,524 on all relevant reception costs and $8,068 on their honeymoon.

And don’t even get us started on this controversial wedding trend, which is guaranteed to blow the budget in one fell swoop.
