This Is the Book Sarah Jessica Parker Thinks You Should Read

Chanelling her inner Carrie Bradshaw

It feels like just yesterday that we were watching Carrie Bradshaw make waves in the publishing world. Now, it’s her off-screen counterpart who can say she has successfully released a book.

Sarah Jessica-Parker has just published her first book under her new role as editorial director at Hogarth book publishing.

And while she didn’t write it (sigh), SJP has overseen the publishing of Fatima Farheen Mirza’s debut novel, A Place for Us.

The book follows the lives of an Indian Muslim family living in California, set to be published in 2019.

SJP for Hogarth is the formal title for her own publishing sub-imprint within Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group.

“I have always loved to read for the same reason I love to act, which is that other people’s stories are more interesting to me than my own,” Parker said when announcing her new role, in which she will versee and publish four novels a year.

Back in February, the American Library Association announced that it would be partnering with Sarah Jessica Parker to launch Book Club Central, a website with book picks and resources for readers.

After eagerly refreshing our Instagram feeds for months, we finally have her first pick: Stephanie Powell Watts’ No One Is Coming to Save Us.

Released in April, the book is a modern day retelling of The Great Gatsby with an African American family in North Carolina.
