Father-Of-Two Opens Up About Wife Killed By ‘Reckless’ Hoon

“My beautiful wife was snatched away forever"

Mother-of-two Andrea Lehane was walking across a pedestrian crossing outside a busy Melbourne shopping centre in 2015 when she was struck down by a speeding mini motorbike.

The nurse was thrown more than five metres by the impact and suffered fatal injuries.

But the rider responsible for the crash, Caleb Jakobsson, sped away from the scene, leaving Andrea choking on her own blood, news.com.au reports.

The loved ones of Ms Lehane have now spoken out about their devastating loss at a pre-sentencing hearing for Jakobsson.

Husband James Lehane told the Victorian County Court that his wife’s death still “tears him up inside”.

“My beautiful wife was snatched away forever for the sake of cheap and reckless thrills,” he said in an impact statement.

Mr Lehane is now the sole care of the couple’s children, aged four and five.

“This cowardly and easily avoidable crime has left me as a single parent of two young children,” he told the court.

Ms Lehane’s sister, Adele Paraggio, also shared her heartbreak.

“Such an inhumane act was done to my little sister,” she said. “How much pain did she feel? How could someone just leave someone there? It hurts like hell.”

ABC News reports Mr Jakobsson pleaded guilty to culpable driving causing death and failing to stop.
