One Of Your Favourite British Actors Is Set To Play A Young Dumbledore

He will feature in the Fantastic Beasts sequel

It has been a not-so-secret dream of Jude Law’s to be part of the Harry Potter series, and now it’s finally come true!

When Law was once asked why he hadn’t appeared in the original Harry Potter series and he replied ‘Nobody’s asked me’, he probably didn’t imagine that he would be offered the role of a young Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts, yet here we are.

Variety confirmed the news that he would be joining the cast in the sequel, and director David Yates said he is thrilled to have him on board.

“Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him,” Yates said. “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

Richard Harris played Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies before he sadly passed away in 2002, and Michael Gambon played Dumbledore for the five films after that.

Johnny Depp was controversially chosen to play the villain Grindelwald in the first Fantastic Beasts movie, and he will be returning for the sequel.

The sequel is set to hit cinemas on November 18, 2018.
