Queen Elizabeth Reportedly Set To Abdicate And Make Charles King

Her Royal Majesty could soon retire

Last month, Prince Philip retired from all royal duties and it sounds like his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, is ready to follow suit.

After an incredible 64 years of service, Her Royal Majesty is reportedly planning to step aside and let her eldest son Charles become king, in all but name, while she is still alive.

Mail On Sunday reports that the queen has told her inner circle that if she’s still on the throne at 95 – in four years time – she will ask for a piece of legislation called ‘The Regency Act’ to grant Prince Charles full power to reign.

Royal commentator Robert Jobson told the British publication that a number of high-ranking courtiers have confirmed preparations for the transition of the Crown are underway.

Mr Jobson also revealed that a senior former member of the Royal Household told him: “Out of the profound respect the Queen holds for the institution of monarchy and its stewardship, Her Majesty would want to make sure that she has done everything she can for her country and her people before she hands over.”

“Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless,” they continued.

“I understand the Queen has given the matter considerable thought and believes that, if she is still alive at 95, she will seriously consider passing the reign to Charles.”

Queen Elizabeth is the oldest and longest-serving monarch following her Coronation in 1953.
