So this is why Emma Watson turned down La La Land

“She began making all these crazy demands”

It’s the most highly hyped film of the year and tipped to clean up at the 2017 Oscars, but La La Land wasn’t good enough for the two high profile actors who turned down its lead roles.

Emma Watson was originally cast as Mia, eventually played by Emma Stone, and Whiplash actor Miles Teller was to play Ryan Gosling’s role, but both lost out for being “too demanding.”

“Miles was offered $US4 million to star in La La Land, but he said he wanted $US6 million,” a Hollywood source has told Page Six. “Watson was offered the lead female role, but she initially wouldn’t commit.”

“Then she began making all these crazy demands, like rehearsals for the film must be done in London – for a film called La La Land! They jumped through hoops to make it work for her, but she just didn’t feel the film was right for her.”

La La Land director Damien Chazelle, who directed the critically acclaimed Whiplash, has confirmed that Watson and Teller were originally tipped to play the parts.

Gosling and Stone, meanwhile, have been nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress at the Oscars for the film and have already secured Golden Globes in those categories.

According to Page Six’s inside source, “now both Miles and Emma Watson are raising hell with their agents for not securing the roles for them.”
