The Queensland teenager charged with manslaughter over 21-month-old Mason Lee’s death has been granted bail.
The Courier Mail reports he told the court in his affidavit that he would be ‘petrified’ of going to jail, for fear of being assaulted there.
17-year-old Ryan Hodson was living in the home at the time of Mason Lee’s death, and witnessed the deterioration of his condition.

Mother Ann-Maree Lee, step-father William Andrew O’Sullivan and Hodson reportedly sent text messages to each other of Mason lying in pools of vomit, and they argued over whose responsibility it was to take him to the doctor. By the time they called paramedics, it was too late.
Though Hodson’s application for bail was denied in the Caboolture Magistrates Court last week, it was accepted in the Brisbane Supreme Court after the court was told that he was not a primary carer for the child, and that jail would be debilitating for him as a teenager.

Ann-Maree Lee and William Andrew O’Sullivan are also being charged with manslaughter. The case continues.
