Carrie Bickmore’s Hilarious Story About Breastfeeding Is So Relatable

She shared her experience on The Project

On Thursday night The Project panel tackled the subject of returning to the workplace soon after giving birth, and host Carrie Bickmore had some hilarious input.

The TV host explained how pumping breast milk at work—a common and natural process for women—led to some amusing encounters of her own.

“I remember driving with Tim Blackwell, who works on Nova, to a function and I had just come back to work, and I was in the back pumping and he looked up in the rear vision mirror and I was like… “‘Eyes on the road!’” Bickmore laughed.

The 36-year-old Project star has two children, a daughter Evie, and son Oliver.

Bickmore also told a story about expressing breast milk at the Logies.

“I was at the Logies when I had Evie, and that was about six weeks after I had her, and I remember this moment when I was in the toilet with my top down expressing into the toilet because my boobs were getting so big they were coming out of my top,” she said.

“I remember thinking, ‘This mum-life, work life thing’s not working quite the way I planned right at this moment!'”

Bickmore’s comments followed an interview with radio host Abby Coleman, who revealed she went back to work just three weeks after having her first child, and four weeks after her second baby.

The first time Coleman returned to work was admittedly “way to soon,” because she had just commenced a new job and didn’t have enough maternity leave saved up.

“For the second one it was up to me,” she explained. “I was ready to go back on my own terms and that just felt so empowering — to be the one making the decision rather than feeling forced.”
