Asher Keddie Opens Up About Offspring’s Emotional Stillbirth Episode

She's proud to give airtime to a difficult topic

Asher Keddie has won even the harshest critics over with her portrayal of Dr Nina Proudman on Offspring, and now the star has opened up about one story line that truly touched her.

On August 16, the show, which has spanned over seven seasons, saw her character emotionally watch her patient realise that her newborn was stillborn. 

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Keddie said it was “confronting” to read the script before she acted out the scenes, but in hindsight, she feels proud as “it’s life”. 

The heartbreaking episode which aired last night received a lot of positive feedback from fans online, commending the show’s creators for covering such a taboo yet important subject.

For anyone who missed Wednesday night’s episode, following the stillbirth scene Nina finds out she and her partner Harry (played by Alexander England) are expecting a baby.
