According to Radar Online, Ashton Kutcher has been identified as a potential witness for the murder trial of Michael Gargiulo, the 'Hollywood Ripper, and the alleged killer of his ex-girlfriend Ashley Ellerin.
The publication reports that in court documents filed yesterday, out of 426 people Kutcher was named as potential witness number 12. The trial is scheduled to start May 2, more than 18 years after Ellerin was killed in her home on February 2001. She was 22-years-old at the time.
Reports from the incident claim Kutcher arrived at Ellerin's home to picked her up for a Grammys party. When Ellerin didn't answer the door, Kutcher allegedly looked through the window and noticed dark stains on the carpet, but assumed it was just red wine. He left to attend the event, unaware what had happened.
Gargiulo was arrested in 2008 after DNA evidence connected him to the crime. It is suspected the alleged serial killer could have been responsible for the deaths of almost 10 women.
Kutcher has never spoken publicly of his relationship with Ellerin, or the trial.
Ellerin’s childhood friend Carolyn Murnick described her as "a real person with a childhood and people around her who loved her and still remember her".
