It was a fitting scene for International Women's Day on March 8, with the Australian women's cricket team attracting one of the biggest ever women's sporting crowds during their epic win over India in the T20 World Cup match over the weekend.

Led by batting pair Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney, the team beat India by 85 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The match brought an incredible crowd of over 86,000 spectators - just falling short of the world record for a women's sports event at the Rose Bowl for the 1999 soccer World Cup final. It was the largest crowd for a women's sporting event in Australia and the highest for a women's cricket match globally.
"I don't think anything's going to top that," Healy said, per ABC. "I hope there are girls in this side who will experience that for a long period of time, but for me, I never thought we would get the opportunity to do something as cool as what we did today.
"It's a dream come true, and I enjoyed every single minute of it. I don't think you saw me without a smile on my face that whole time. We just went out there and enjoyed the moment. We enjoyed what we were able to create."
Fast bowler Megan Schutt said she was blown away by the attendance. “This is absolutely insane,” she said. “This is the kind of stuff you dream of as a kid and honestly I did not dream of this. They said they wanted to fill the G and they’ve gone and done it.”
Cricketer Beth Mooney also spoke of the incredible achievement. "[I'm] proud to be part of the changing landscape of sport in this country and around the world," she said. "I feel grateful as well to be given the opportunity to perform on the big stage, and also excited about what the future holds for the sport."
Following the match, the team took to the stage with pregnant star Katy Perry.
The world was blown away by the scenes from the MCG.
WELL DONE 👏👏👏
