Despite being the front-runner, Brooke famously walked out on the Honey Badger before the final rose ceremony when she asked him for reassurance on his feelings and he couldn't give it to her.
According to sources Nick was left heartbroken by her departure and that he was “in hell” for days after she left.
"He wanted to reveal his true feelings for Brooke," a source reportedly told Woman’s Day.
"Nick's a genuine guy and he didn't want to hurt any of the girls, most of all Brooke. When he realised she was the one he had true feelings for, he ended things with the other two and finally confessed to Brooke how he really felt – took him long enough!"
During the season, Nick had designed a ring to give to the final lady, which we saw on all the promos for the show, and the source says he designed it with Brooke in mind.
The report suggests that Nick is still hoping to give the ring to Brooke.
However, we’re not so sure how she’ll feel about that, speaking on The Project on Sunday night, the 23-year-old youth worker was visibly shaken by the whole ordeal and upset at having her whole life exposed.
"My whole life has just been exposed, not just my love life, my family life," Brooke told Lisa Wilkinson. "I feel super raw."
Despite opening up herself to Nick, Brooke says she felt it "wasn't being reciprocated," adding, "I wanted it to be worth it with him."
