You Have To See Barack And Michelle Obama’s Incredible Official Portraits

The former POTUS and First Lady unveiled them overnight

Barack and Michelle Obama have unveiled their official portraits at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C.

Barack debuted a massive, seven-foot painting by Kehinde Wiley, featuring the former president sitting on a wooden seat with a bright floral background.

Barack later joked that he’d asked the artist to give him less grey hair and smaller ears than in real life, but his request was declined.

Michelle, whose portrait was created by Amy Sherald, said an emotional speech upon unveiling the beautiful image.

“I’ve never had any portrait done let alone a portrait that will be hanging in the National Gallery,” the former First Lady said.

“I’m thinking about the young people, particularly girls and girls of colour who in years ahead will come to this place and they will look up and see an image of someone who looks like them…I know the kind of impact that will have on their lives, because I was one of those girls.”

Barack also joked that Michelle’s portrait captures “the hotness of the woman I love.”

But Barack wasn’t the only joker. Ellen DeGeneres unveiled her own version of Obama’s portrait on Twitter, and we have to say, we love it.
