Barack Obama Shares The 3 Questions You Should Ask Before Marrying Someone

Just when you thought you couldn't love him any more

We know we throw around the term ‘couple goals’ fairly often, but if there’s anyone who deserves to be coined the phrase, it’s the Obamas.

Happily married for 25 years with two children and a presidency under their belts, Michelle and Barack Obama are forever praising each other and celebrating their relationship.

In fact, for their 25 wedding anniversary, Obama surprised his wife with a public video saying Michelle is “an extraordinary partner,” “a great friend” and “somebody who could always make me laugh.”

And it appears the former POTUS has a few relationship tips, sharing them with Dan Pfeiffer, his former communications director, who then kindly went on to share them in his book.

Pfeiffer’s novel Yes, We (Still) Can, he writes that he asked Obama how to know someone was The One.

“Here’s the advice I give everyone about marriage: is she someone you find interesting?” Obama said. You will spend more time with this person than anyone else for the rest of your life, and there is nothing more important than always wanting to hear what she has to say about things,” he continued.

The second question was: “Does she make you laugh?”

And the third, “I don’t know if you want kids, but if you do, do you think she will be a good mum?”

“Life is long. These are the things that really matter over the long term,” Obama explained.

After pondering his bosses questions for a moment, Pfeiffer replied that his partner was “incredibly interesting, funnier than I am and will be a phenomenal mum”.

Obama later went on to attend his wedding.
