Intricate Ballerina Buns And Silver Eyeliner Take Over Fashion Week

Every must-see beauty trend

As fashion month continues, we look to London for the new wave of beauty inspiration. The British runway collections are brimming with Brit-girl appeal – think Sienna Miller and Kate Moss – and can always be counted on to deliver a slew of edgy trends. From intricately gelled-back buns at Burberry, silver-hued winged eyeliner at Bora Aksu and the “new” textured shag as seen at Christopher Kane.

To bridge the gap between runway and reality, we caught up with TIGI London’s National education manager Jacqueline Pidd to get the breakdown on LFW’s hottest hair trends.

What is the number one hair trend this season?

“The textured bob. A longer length that just sweeps the shoulders, while maintaining and encouraging natural movement and rocking a middle part. This length offers a style that is perhaps easier ‘to do’ and maintain once you leave the salon.”

Hair accessories are having a moment right now, what’s the best way to try this trend?

“Grab your mum’s old neck scarf and give it a go! A headscarf can encourage colour and its size allows you to use it in alternative ways; wrap a pony or bun, or wrap entire head like an oversized headband. Great for ‘hair washing’ days!”

What is the number one hair product every woman should have this season? Why?

“With the trend of natural movement at the top of the list, the go-to would be a light sea salt spray. This helps to maintain the texture and enhances a lived-in feel.”

What is the number one hair tool every woman should have this season? Why?

“An old school round barrel tong versus a conical, this offers more flexibility in styling as it can be used and manipulated in more ways than one, offering greater styling opportunities.”

What is the new season way to wear a messy bun? Is it all about the low ponytail or slicked back hair?

“Pull your bun so it is perched right at your crown, creating height and visibility from the front. That head scarf then becomes a great tool to use to secure! Ponytails are seen slicked and low this season as a flip on the texture we are seeing when hair is out.”

Here, all the must-see beauty looks from London Fashion Week autumn/winter 19.
