The year was 2002, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were a couple and all was right in the world. Despite their breakup two years later, Bennifer fans have concluded that love can stand the test of time, especially now that the pair are apparently an item after nearly 17 years apart.
Rumours surrounding their apparent coupling have done the rounds recently, with a source claiming that the pair have been “hanging out” and after photos showed the former couple sharing a car together. But in a new report by People, another source has stated that the pair recently took a solo trip together to Montana, following their appearances at the Global Citizen: Vax Live benefit concert over the weekend.
“[Jennifer] spent several days with Ben out of town,” the source said. “They have a strong connection. It’s all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy.”
However, it’s not just People whose sources claim their rumoured romance to be factual, E! News has also confirmed that the pair had taken a trip out of town.
“They were alone,” a source told E! “Just the two of them.”
An additional source has also revealed that Lopez and Affleck have stayed in touch over the years, and apparently, are enjoying each other’s company post-breakups.
“They have been in touch here and there throughout the years,” a second source said. “Ben reached out to her to see how she was doing and they had dinner together a few times within this last month. It’s natural between them and the chemistry is unreal. They picked up where they last left off and are enjoying each other’s company right now.”
As for their post-getaway plans, another source close to the pair told TMZ that Affleck and Lopez “looked like a couple” while holidaying in Montana, and once they arrived back in Los Angeles via private jet, the pair headed straight back to Lopez’s home in Bel Air. And while we make of that what we will, fans certainly have their thoughts on the rumoured new couple.
Previously engaged in the early ’00s, the pair called off their engagement a year later and had confirmed their split by 2004. Since then, Lopez has welcomed two children with ex-husband Marc Antony and Affleck welcomed three with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
Most recently, Lopez ended her engagement to former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez due to rumoured infidelity on his behalf, while Affleck recently split from an oddly public relationship with actress Ana de Armas.
While news of Affleck and Lopez’s apparent reunion is merely speculation, fans will have to wait and see whether their dreams become a reality.
