If you use a computer or phone daily (hello, everyone) then you're definitely being affected by blue light. It's one of those things we don't really think about, but it's having a constant effect on your body, both good and bad.
If you're not entirely sure what it is or what you should be doing about it, we're sharing everything you need to know here.
What is blue light?
Without getting too scientific, blue light is essentially what the name suggest - light that emits blue waves. This type of light is supposed to be beneficial during the day as it can boost our attention and mood. Come night time, however, it's a whole different story.
Being exposed to blue light at night can have an adverse reaction, especially with our ability to get to sleep. According to studies by Harvard medical researchers, blue light can inhibit melatonin (the thing which helps regulate our circadian rhythm and sleep). This means if you're being exposed to it at night, you can almost guarantee you'll have a poor quality sleep, your body will be disrupted and you'll probably be moody the next day (not fun).
One of the best ways we can minimise these negative impacts is by wearing blue light glasses, because let's be honest, we're not going to stop playing on our phones in bed anytime soon.
There are no shortage of places to buy a set of blue light glasses, but you'll want to invest in the right pair that are not only effective and made to last, but look good too. Below, we've rounded up our favourite pairs of blue light glasses that'll help to minimise its effects on your body and allow you to keep that midnight Instagram scroll going.
