10 Career-Focused Podcasts For Those Searching For Side Hustle Inspiration

For some, this year has thrown enough curveballs to last a lifetime. But for others, 2020 has brought over the need for a sea change—career-wise, that is.

Whether you're looking to switch jobs or turn your entire career path on its head, there's no better time to get inspired and set the wheels in motion for the next year.

Luckily, there is a treasure trove of podcasts that are here to help you navigate your career and turn your side hustle into a reality, sans the networking.

Before you start applying to every job on offer, try listening to some of the best career-focused podcasts streaming right now for some guidance.

Below, we've rounded up our favourite career-driven podcasts for those needing a spark of inspiration.

1. Ctrl Alt Delete with Emma Gannon

My timeline tells me it's #InternationalPodcastDay. I did not think this would turn into my actual job when I bought a pair of microphones for £30 off Amazon almost SIX years ago but here we are. I love Ctrl Alt Delete. It's my longest job/employer. It's taken me a long time to slowly realise it's no longer my hobby but a business. I've had to realise it can still bring joy and the enthusiasm of 'side hustle in bedroom', but it is still a job and jobs have bad days no matter what. But it's mine. A space on the internet to have a nuanced chat, away from clickbait and twitter character limits and people wanting to be 'right' about everything all the time. A place of curiosity. Nearly 300 episodes. 8 million listens. Interviewing ppl on sofas, studios (& cupboards) all over the world. Looking forward to many more years I hope..xxxx

Hosted by Emma Gannon, Ctrl Alt Delete features interviews with leaders across a variety of industries. If you're looking for some career inspiration, you can expect refreshing chats with guests that focus not only their career trajectories, but social media, feminism, and the internet.

It's finally here... the How I Built This book is out today!! 🥳 Get yours! Let these beautifully staged photos nudge you towards this year's best source of inspiration and self-belief.

Losing hope on making your big break? NPR's Guy Raz hosts a weekly podcast that shares the humble stories about the world's biggest brands and the CEOs behind them. Tracing a company’s origin story to its roots, Raz leaves no stone unturned when questioning creators about every detail on their company's growth. While it's not an advice-driven podcast, it’s a refreshing dose of inspiration for those who've lost motivation.

Angels, the time has come to close season two of @offlinethepodcast! I'm taking a month off publishing (but not recording 😋) to dream, to consider and to plan. And while I have some incredible guests in the recording bank, I decided to dedicate this closing episode to you - Offline's beautiful and nourishing community. ⁣ ⁣ I put a call out for #ama questions on my personal Instagram a couple of weeks ago, and chose 14 to answer across topics including true self, spirituality and personal development. ⁣ ⁣ From how to trust we're on the right path, to dealing with self doubt, my advice to women changing careers after 30, the biggest lesson I learned after leaving my corporate publishing role, my sliding doors moment and what my husband Tony thinks about about my journey to better knowing myself, I recorded this in one take and without a script. It is imperfect but as always, it is honest. ⁣ ⁣ Season three of Offline commences June 16. I'm already so proud of its shape. I hope you adore it. ⁣ ⁣ Offline was for you but now it is because of you. Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement to keep going. If these honest conversations have helped you and you're in a position to, please consider kindly donating to help me fund season three. Link in bio. I love ya. - @alisonlarsenrice 🌙 #getoffline #offlinethepodcast

Hosted by career coach, Alison Rice, Offline is a series of honest conversations with the people behind our favourite Instagram accounts and the teachers who help us on our way. Rice and her guests get real about life, failures and success for those leading in their industry. Past guests include Goop's Elise Loehnen and fashion designer Anine Bing.

How To Fail Season EEIIIIGGGGHHHTTTTT BABY! And what a guest I have for you to kick off the series: it's only Jessie Ware, singer, songwriter, co-host of the Table Manners podcast, bestselling cookbook author and someone who swears almost as much as I do. She joins me to talk about failure to tidy up, failure to be present, failing to be a journalist and accidental success, body image, power, song lyrics, love, food, faith, music industry sexism, cooking and the unacknowledged greatness of a bloody good shoulder-pad. Thank you, Jessie, you are a delight and although you said you were fearful of what you'd said in our 'therapy session', I *promise* there's nothing to worry about. Link in bio or in my stories! -------------------- This episode was recorded before the recent tragic events in America. Our thoughts are with all those targeted, brutalised and affected on a daily basis by racism. There are links to practical Black Lives Matter resources in the shownotes and my story highlights. Thank you. -------------------- #howtofail #howtofailwithelizabethday #jessieware #whatsyourpleasure #singer #podcast #tablemannerspodcast #interview #performing #music #impostersyndrome #failure #success #inspo #wednesdaywisdom #interview #podcast

Hosted by former columnist and writer Elizabeth Day, How To Fail With Elizabeth Day celebrates the things that haven’t gone right. Every week, Day brings in a new interviewee to explore what their failures taught them about how to succeed better. If you're feeling down-and-out or are just looking for the brighter side, How To Fail should be your next go-to.

It's here! It's happening! The podcast baby is going to get borned! On ... MARCH 31ST!!! Chuck it in your diary, your digital calendar, write it on your fridge, or your forehead, or wherever it is that you write Very Important Things! And sign up to the newsletter (link is in my bio) for conveniently bite-sized sneak peaks of the podcast, tickets to the *very fancy* launch party, and other goodies. I don't usually do this, but if you have a friend that you think will be interested in this project, or coming to the partayyyyy, tag them here! I need your help to birth this art baby, so please share around if this is something that you think will be good for the world :)

We all know the stereotype of the “starving artist”. And while many artists do struggle to make a living, there are a select few who are able to survive solely off their creative works. If you're looking to turn your artistic side hustle into a full-time career, this podcast dives into the financial side of creativity and success and offers pointers worth noting down.
