The Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2019 And When They're Released

Our 2019 New Years Resolution to stop binge-watching TV shows seemed like an easy task at the time… but how on earth are we meant to pass up these marvellous Netflix originals and HBO series? Let’s be real, it’s been a tough year so far and we owe it to ourselves – so sit back, and indulge in what will be undeniably the greatest year of television to ever grace our screens…

Big Little Lies Season 2

The anticipation for the return of Big Little Lies has been colossal – we were left with our jaws dropping to the ground following the shocking demise of Perry, the abusive husband to wife Celeste (Nicole Kidman) and the man who sexually assaulted Jane (Shailene Woodley). Joining the incredible cast will be the glorious Meryl Streep, who plays Perry’s mother and takes it into her own hands to investigate her son’s death. With an image of Reese Witherspoon's character hurling ice cream at Streep's head, it's safe to say we can't wait to see this.

Release date: TBC, but most likely the start of June

Game Of Thrones Season 8

Game of Thrones has received worldwide acclaim for its spectacular portrayal of medieval characters and its cliff-hanging endings - the Red Wedding, anyone? With HBO releasing the final and eighth season of Game of Thrones on April 14, we can expect to see our favourites return to the screen for more action than ever before. Featuring the beloved Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) and Lena Headey (Cersei) the final season of GoT is guaranteed to be more epic than anything we've ever seen on screen.

Release date: April 14th, 2019

Killing Eve Season 2

Killing Eve really took us through a whirlwind of emotions… and tbh, gave us all nightmares. Having watched assassin Villanelle’s (Jodie Comer) horrendous killings, all executed with that painfully sweet grimace, we can only imagine what Season 2 will have in store for us… will MI5 spy Eve (Sandra Oh) succeed in delivering justice?

Release date: April 7th, 2019

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3

Set in the 1950s, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is back for a second season and we can’t wait to see what Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) will overcome to pursue her stand-up comedy career. The first episode of Season 3 is to be released most likely in winter in 2019 – a brilliant excuse to escape the cold if you ask me!

Release date: TBC, but thought to be winter 2019

Peaky Blinders Season 5

The award-winning crime drama Peaky Blinders is back bigger than ever, and is expected to reach screens sometime during winter this year. Starring the talented Cillian Murphy, Season 5 will explore the future of Thomas Shelby, his family, and empire of crime, all against the backdrop of the 1929 financial crash. Get ready for some serious drama!

The Crown Season 3

The new season of The Crown will have you absolutely glued to the TV as it portrays the next chapter of the Royal family history. With Olivia Coleman succeeding Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, and with the new addition of Prince Charles’ second wife Camilla Parker Bowles, we’re bound to have some serious late night Netflix sessions. Sex Education Season 2

Sex Education has received such an incredible reaction – and many young adolescents have resonated with the hilarious and awkward experiences of sex and relationships during high school. Starring the socially awkward Otis (Asa Butterfield), son of a sex-therapist mother, writer Laurie Nunn gives us hope for a Season 2. She told Thrillist, "We definitely started thinking about it. So we have some ideas, which is exciting." Netflix will give fans a definite answer by March. Fingers crossed…

Release date: TBC

You Season 2

The American psychological thriller You was heavily binged over the Christmas period, and we’re all beyond excited at the news that it’s back for a second season! This year we’ll get an answer to the huge cliff-hanger left in Season 1, and will share in Penn Badgley's Joe Goldberg’s new obsessive endeavours…
