Blake Lively Says Her 3 Children Help ‘Settle’ Her ‘Bevy Of Insecurities’ About Her Body

"I just want my kids to be proud."

For Blake Lively, family is everything. So, when it comes to her children, she will do anything to make them proud of her.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Lively spoke about how her experience with motherhood has left her self-image and how she paves her way in Hollywood with her family in mind.

Married to fellow A-list royalty Ryan Reynolds, the pair share three daughters together, seven-year-old James, five-year-old Inez and two-year-old Betty.

“I think having children for me made me feel so much more in my skin,” Lively told the publication.

“I never felt more myself or at ease in my own body or more confident—not to say that there aren’t a bevy of insecurities coming at me a million times a day, but I just feel incredibly settled.”

Naturally, the confidence that her children have helped her achieve trickles down into her personal style and career-focused decision making.

“Family is at the root of everything that I do and it’s also at the root of everything that I create,” Lively explained, referring to her non-alcoholic mixer brand, Betty Buzz.

Launched in late 2021, Lively created the brand after three years of development and it now houses a series of alcohol-less bottled drinks to pair with popular spirits or drank on their own.

And of course, the brand is named after her and Reynolds’ youngest daughter, Betty.

“So, whenever I create something, I create something with family in mind, because that’s just how I live.” She continued, “That also goes into the types of films I want to be a part of.”

“I want to be in films, I want to make films, I want to author films that I would be proud for my children to see. Even the gowns I wear—I just want my kids to be proud.”

Speaking of gowns, Lively recently turned heads earlier this month at this year’s Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Taking to the grand staircase, she stunned in an Atelier Versace dusty rose metallic gown, accessorised with matching opera globes and a tiara. A masterclass in white tie dressing, Lively’s show-stopping gown was far from done, when mid-way up the stairs, the tails of her dress open to reveal a glittering pale blue gown.

An ode to the architecture of New York City, the dress’s embellishments was in reference to the art deco architecture of the art deco architecture from the Empire State Building, as per E! News.

Her train even had “a constellation from Grand Central Station” and “lots of little references” to NYC. And according to the New York Times, the colours are said to represent the Statue of Liberty oxidising from copper to green.

Surely, her daughters would have been more than proud to see their mother shine the brightest that night.
