Bodies Discovered In California Desert Locked In Embrace

The couple went missing after embarking on a hike in July

Nearly three months after the disappearance of a young couple in Joshua Tree National Park, California, a search crew spotted some food wrappers, clothing and water bottles.

The rescue team then followed the trail and discovered two bodies that were locked in an embrace.

As Fox News reports, the remains are believed to belong to missing couple Rachel Nguyen, 20, and Joseph Orbeso, 21. The pair were reported missing on July 28 after they did not check out of their accommodation near the park; their car was also found in the area.

Officials have not confirmed the identity of the bodies found or the cause of death. But Joseph’s father, Gilbert Orbeso, who was with the rescue team when they made the discovery, told a local KESQ-TV that the bodies belonged to the couple.

“I feel like we have closure. We know we found them. That was our main goal, to find them,” he said.

Autopsies will determine Rachel and Joseph’s cause of death.
