Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Have Reportedly Asked For More Time For Their Divorce Proceedings

The couple separated three years ago

The news of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s separation in 2016 shocked everyone, but three years on the famous former couple still haven’t finalised their divorce. Despite recently both speaking out about their marriage breakdown with Jolie opening up about how she “lost herself” at the end of the relationship and Pitt revealing his time at AA and that he’s quit alcohol, it doesn’t look like reconciliation is on the cards, rather the pair is trying to figure out how to split their millions of dollars and assets fairly.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Pitt and Jolie have asked more time to figure out how to split their assets. The reports states that a “sticking points” in the negotiations is figuring out what to do about Chateau Miraval, their French estate and winery, which sources tell the site was going to originally be passed down to their six children to own and operate.

The Blast also reported that Pitt filed documents asking for the court to allow the ongoing discussions to move forward using a private judge, which will be allowed if the pair pay for the judge’s time themselves.

Thankfully, the piece states that “talks are going smoothly,” and will continue privately as they work towards a settlement.

While on a press tour for her new film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Jolie gave a surprisingly honest interview with French magazine Madame Figaro, during which she opened up about losing herself in the lead up to her split with Brad, saying, “I didn’t recognise myself anymore.”

“I feel like I’m coming full-circle,” she said in the cover interview, which was translated to French. “For this new Guerlain campaign, I asked myself: what is expected of me? And the answer was that I want to be who I’ve always been. So instead of hiding my wild side, I’m bringing it out. I want to feel free.”

“I’m certain that I’m in transition, and this is a homecoming, I’m coming back to myself. Because I was a little lost,” Angelina continued, before saying, “I think it was at the end of my relationship with Brad and then when we separated. It was complicated, I didn’t recognise myself anymore, and I’d become, how do I say this, smaller, insignificant, even if I didn’t show it.”
