This is getting ugly

Brad Pitt has hit back at Angelina Jolie’s claims he hasn’t paid child support for their six children since their split in 2016.

“[Pitt] has a statutory duty to pay child support. As of present, [Pitt] has paid no meaningful child support since separation,” Jolie’s attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, writes in court documents obtained by CNN

DeJean then added that Ange is expecting to be paid the money she is owed.

“Given that the informal arrangements around the payment of the children’s expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file an RFO [request for a court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order,” the documents state.

Brad has now filed his own documents via his lawyer Lance Spiegel, calling his ex-wife’s claims “unnecessary” and “a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage”.

His lawyer also adds that he “adamantly disputes the contention that he has not paid child support”.

Spiegel claims Pitt “loaned” Jolie $US8 million ($AUD10.7 million) to help her purchase her current house and has contributed over $US1.3 million ($AUD1.7 million) “in bills for the benefit of [Jolie] and the minor children.”

A spokesperson for Ange said the aim of the filing “is to provide closure to the marriage in a way that clears a path toward the next stage of their lives and allows her and Brad to recommit as devoted co-parents to their children.”

Brad and Ange met in 2003 and married in 2014 before announcing their split in September 2016. The custody of their six children, Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — has been an ongoing issue between the pair.
